Distance Ed Materials

Up until 2016, some Distance Education Centre Victoria printed materials were available for sale to home educators but were withdrawn from sale at the end of 2016.

As part of the new regulations, the Minister promised “Distance Education Centre of Victoria will again make curriculum resources available to home schooling families” (Minister’s media release June 9).

These will be a one-off supply of an incomplete version of the 2015 DECV program which will never be updated.

  • Why once only?
DET response: much of the DECV program has now gone online so very little materials now available.
  • Why incomplete?
DET response: because all copyrighted material must be removed before release.
  • When?
    DET response: mid-late December.

DET’s Legal Division is preparing a deed of licence agreement under which HEN will be provided with a digital copy of the materials. Under this licence, HEN will distribute them free to any home educator who wishes to use them. Once we have the materials, we will assess how best to do that.

  • Many other resources are available.  The use of the DECV materials is optional, they will simply be one more resource you have to choose from.
  • Home educated students can enrol in DECV for year 10/11/12 if they wish (as long as they have been registered with the VRQA for over 12 months). More details.
