SPEED CUBING – Fortnightly in Term 2
We would love to get together with everyone that is interested (beginners included – Age 5+ recommended – younger supervised siblings welcome too). Last time we had ages ranging up to 14 and some keen parents too.

The kids don’t need to own a cube or bring any other equipment with them as there are plenty of cube puzzles of a wide variety available to use.
Maxine at Speed Cube Shop has made a great space for kids to gather and is very welcoming of the home ed community. She is very generous with providing lots of demo puzzles and is encouraging of the kids pursuits. However she doesn’t provide instruction but finds that the kids prefer to learn from each other and also from youtube at home. Please note though that this is a retail space (a shop). There is no obligation to purchase anything although parents are advised that the items that are offered for use are also available (new) to buy. So be prepared for a bit of arm twisting from your kids. Puzzles start from as little as around $5 but range up to over $100 for the world class event models. Children remain the responsibility of their parents while in the space.
So even though this is not a structured lesson, kids can “have a go” at anything. There will be staff in the shop that can share some methods and advice.
Please bring water bottles. There is a small playground across the road for a break out area with a few small shady trees on the north end which may be a nice space to bring a rug and your lunch for afterwards. There is a bakery a few doors up from the shop and there is also a toilet available for use in the Speed Cube Shop. Cup of Tea facilities will be available in the upstairs kitchenette where there is also a space with a large cosy rug for parents to be with younger children and babies. Please bring along any toys or activities they may need.Last updated on
