If for any reason the camp is cancelled, your deposit will be fully refunded. If you need to cancel then your deposit will only be refundable if you cancel prior to Thursday 19th of July.
Join us at the Pioneer Village in dorm style accommodation (rooms contain beds only and bathrooms are shared). Book a room exclusively for your family. Stay in the Burke Lodge and self cater (with access to the Lodge’s commercial kitchen). Stay in the Wills Lodge and enjoy full catering with 3 meals and 2 snacks provided daily. Most dietary needs can be catered for. Bookings for the Pioneer Village accommodation will open in March 2018 and a deposit will be required to confirm your place.
You will need to bring your own bed linen and towels.

Alternatively you can stay at the Big 4 Riverside Swan Hill which is located on the same road as the Pioneer Village.
There is also the Hilltop Resort (owned by a home educating family and also in Swan Hill).
The weather (on average) is warm in September in Swan Hill (unlike Ballarat) so hopefully it will be suitable for camping. Due to the long distance many families will need to travel I have arranged accommodation at the Pioneer Village for the night before and the night after our activities. If you choose to stay at the Pioneer Village then you will have the option of staying Sunday to Wednesday or Sunday to Thursday. If you choose to stay at one of the alternatives then you can pick the days that suit your family.
Costumes are encouraged! We would love for you to make and wear costumes appropriate for the 1800s in Australia.
We will have three days of entry, activities and workshops (Monday 3rd to Wednesday 5th of September).
There is a huge range of optional workshops. We will be allocated into groups of about 12 to 15 students (just like we did with Kryal Castle). Each group will rotate through the activities and workshops. However, if you or your child would prefer to take some time out, or just wander around the Pioneer Village, then that is fine too.
Activities include a laser light show on one evening, a trip on the paddle steamer, a horse drawn vehicle ride, Aboringinal culture and bush tucker plate (gluten free, dairy free and vegan options are available), pioneer building, black smithing (for ages 8 and above – the age restriction is not negotiable), pioneer school, rope making, peg dolls, morse code, butter churning, pioneer games and toys, pioneer laundry, pioneer photo parlour (dress up and use your own camera to take photos), print shop, music shop and more.
If you are attending for just one day, you will be allocated to a group for that day and you will have the option of joining in with the activities on offer for that day or for your group. You will not be able to pick and choose from any of the activities because some groups may already be filled and some activities may not be on offer for that day.
By booking in for this event you agree that your children remain your responsibility during the camp, you participate at your own risk, and that you have read and agreed to the HEN Camp Guidelines.
