Woodwork Workshops (along the idea of ‘Men’s Sheds’). 

A friendly informal space to engage in learning new skills or honing existing ones.

Learning to use a variety of simple but effective woodworking hand tools (files, rasps, saws, hammers, sandpaper, hand planes, chisels).

Workshops can be available either fortnightly or monthly depending on general preferences with the initial workshops scheduled as follows. If you would like to get your own group of 5 together with a preferred date, please get in touch.

Time:  10.00am to 2:00pm

Age 10 and above, max 5 per session

Parents welcome to stay to assist child.  Sorry no room for siblings.

Set projects can be done. Some projects will take more than one session, as indicated below.

Slingshot ($15 materials fee – ply, leather shot pouch & rubber).

Wooden handled knife with leather sheath (2 sessions) ($50 materials fee – hardwood, swedish carbon steel blade, bolster, oil & leather)

Longbow (traditional) (2-3 sessions) ($25 materials fee – hardwood, handmade string & 1 arrow)

We have some ideas for more involved projects if you would like to discuss prior to attending.  (e.g. lidded box, drinks tray, toolbox). These would take more than one session to complete.

Or bring along your own woodwork project to work on or discuss your own project idea before attending.

$60 per day (plus materials).

BYO snacks and lunch.  Tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided.
