Ready to help out?

Every time you use our website, access a discount, read a post, attend an event, or settle down with a cuppa to enjoy Otherways magazine, you are reaping the benefits of work by HEN volunteers.

We’d love you to pay that work forward by taking on a role to help the home ed community.

Phone Line Helper

This involves dialling in to pick up messages about once a week and returning calls at your leisure or passing the message onto the relevant person. There are a couple of people currently sharing this role, a couple of extras would make it smaller for everyone. Email Maaike to volunteer. (1/2 – 1 hour per week)

Event/Activity Organiser

We have some great event organisers but the more the better. Why not jump in organise some stuff yourself? Advice is available and if you are stuck for ideas, take a look through our back issues. One idea is a regular session at Scienceworks with a discount for members. Email Sue to volunteer

Social Media Manager

Are you online most days and come across great articles of interest to home educators? This role involves regularly posting links to interesting links to the HEN facebook page and twitter account. Email Sue to volunteer

Resource Coordinator/s

Investigate and coordinate a group discount on an extra resource you’d like to use. Email Sue to volunteer

Website information updater/s

Can you can help out by taking responsibility for keeping the Financial  or interstate legal  information up to date? Or suggesting Resources to add (free or economical resources preferred) and/or submitting resource reviews.

If you know of tutors ready, willing and able to work with home ed students, please approach them suggesting they list with us. They must provide a current Working With Children Check to be listed and then simply send us a brief blurb detailling their name, contact details, location and subjects they cover. Examples here
