The Victorian Home Education Advisory Committee will provide guidance, information and feedback to DET and the VRQA on the operation of the new Regulations. This advice will be used by DET and the VRQA to inform the development and implementation of the home education guidelines, support materials and templates plus other non-regulatory matters as they arise.
VHEAC will be critical in holding DET to account on their ‘light touch’ rhetoric.
The Home Education Network has run an election for seven home educators from both HEN and the wider home education community to represent the home education community on VHEAC.
Message from HEN’s electoral officer on the conclusion of the VHEAC election.
The voting is done and the results have been counted. I want to begin by thanking all of you for volunteering to take on a role in the VHEAC, your desire to help the home educating community in Victoria is nothing short of amazing. The voting was very close throughout the entire time it was open, with everyone shifting in and out of the top 7 positions multiple times.
But in the end, there can only be seven chosen. The seven people who have been chosen to represent us all in the VHEAC are as follows:
Natalie (Gnat) Atherden
Congratulations to the elected committee, and thank you to everyone for being willing to take on this role.
