DESCRIPTION:All HEN members are welcome to log in to watch the following on
 line incursions\, provided free by the NGV.\n\nThese events are all open t
 o all ages\, &amp\; the recommended ages are listed below.\n\nThese progra
 ms will be delivered online via WebEx. Links to these events will be made

 m)\nExplore the Art Elements: Get Lively with Line and Shape\nLevels 3-6 (
 8y-12y)\n\nLook closely at how artists use line and shape to create patter
 n\, structure\, and movement in their work. We will discover the way diffe
 rent types of lines and shapes can express emotion and meaning and how the
 se art elements are used in distinctive ways in works of art across divers
 e cultures and artistic styles.  Come prepared with drawing paper and a g
 raphite pencil to participate in creative activities during the session.\n

 signers make the everyday extraordinary? Meet Daniel To and Emma Aiston\, 
 the dynamic design duo behind Daniel Emma Studio as they present live from
  the NGV. After hearing about their inspiration and design process\, Danie
 l and Emma will engage kids with some challenging and fun design activitie
 s which will use the students’ world as a starting point to unleash crea
 tivity\, encourage collaboration and build design-centred thinking.\n\n 	W

 of the term)\nBig Ideas in Contemporary Art: Old Forms\, New Voices\nLeve
 ls 7-12 (ages 12y+)\n\nDiscover how contemporary artists are reviving trad
 itional crafts and long-standing techniques to create fresh\, powerful wor
 ks. These artists draw on materials and methods passed down through genera
 tions\, but they use them in new ways that reflect today’s culture\, ide
 ntities\, and ideas. Through discussion of works from the NGV Collection\,
  we will explore how honoring the past in contemporary art practices can o
 pen new creative possibilities\, provide new perspectives on history and g
 ive voice to diverse stories in the present.\n\n 	Tuesday 28th July\, 9.30

 the Art Elements: Tactile Texture\nLevels F-2 (ages 5y-8y)\n\nTurn your at
 tention to texture and discover how artists use this art element to add de

  ways texture can be created and experienced\, both visually and through t
 ouch\, and consider how it influences our interpretations and interactions
  with works of art. Come prepared with plain paper and a glue stick to par

 ks her creativity. Discover how she brings her characters to life and tell
 s enchanting stories using only pictures. Students can take part in engagi
 ng drawing activities that will unleash their own imagination! Don’t mis

  Week with Jacqueline Harvey\nLevels 5–6  (ages 10y-12y)\n\nCelebrate B
 ook Week 2026 with bestselling author Jacqueline Harvey and a new online w
 riting workshop inspired by the NGV Collection. This fun and interactive s
 ession invites students to step into the world of mystery writing – lear
 ning how to build suspense\, create intriguing characters and craft unexpe
 cted twists. Led by one of Australia’s most loved children’s authors\,
  students will discover how artworks can spark imaginative story ideas and
  help bring their mysteries to life. Kids participating in this program w
 ill need:\n\n- Three sheets of A4 paper\n- Pencil/pen\n\n 	Wed 7 October\,
  2PM–2.45PM live (recording available for the rest of the term)\nBig Ide
 as in Contemporary Art: Art Beyond the Walls\nLevels 7-12 (ages 12y+)\n\nW
 e look at what happens when art is taken out of the gallery and is placed 
 into the world around us. This session explores how artists are creating w
 ork in public spaces\, collaborating with communities\, and inviting parti
 cipation in new and unexpected ways. These artists can often blur the line
  between viewer and artwork\, and challenge the idea that art belongs only
  in galleries or museums. From installations to performances and interacti
 ve projects at NGV\, we’ll think and talk about where art can happen\, w
 ho it’s for\, and how it can connect us in powerful and personal ways.\n

 the rest of the term)\nExplore the Art Elements: Fun with Form and Tone\nL
 evels F-2 (ages 5y-8y)\n\nExplore how artists use these art elements and o
 ther techniques to create the illusion of three-dimensional space and volu
 me in their work. We will also discover sculptural works of art that occup
 y real space and consider how their form influences the way we view and in
 teract with them. Come prepared with drawing paper and coloured pencils to
