DESCRIPTION:All HEN members are welcome to log in to watch the following on
 line incursions\, provided free by the NGV.\n\nThese events are all open t
 o all ages\, &amp\; the recommended ages are listed below.\n\nThese progra
 ms will be delivered online via WebEx. Links to these events will be made 
 available in the members only section of the HEN website.\n\n 	Tuesday 4th

 erm)\nExplore the Art Elements: Tactile Texture\nLevels 3-6 (8y-12y)\n\nTu
 rn your attention to texture and discover how artists use this art element
  to add depth\, interest\, and complexity to their works of art. We will i
 nvestigate ways texture can be created and experienced\, both visually and
  through touch\, and consider how it influences our interpretations and in
 teractions with works of art. Come prepared with plain paper and a glue st
 ick to participate in creative activities during the session.\n\nSame as l

 ood\nLevels 2–4 (ages 7y-9y)\n\nJoin the multi-award-winning illustrator
  and writer Freya Blackwood for a fun-filled Book Week online event! Dive 
 into the magic behind Freya’s captivating illustrations and find out wha
 t sparks her creativity. Discover how she brings her characters to life an
 d tells enchanting stories using only pictures. Students can take part in 
 engaging drawing activities that will unleash their own imagination! Don
 ’t miss the chance to ask Freya your questions during the Q&amp\;A sessi
 on at the end. Kids will:\n\n- Learn about the ways writers and illustrato
 rs tell stories\n- Engage in guided drawing activities\n- Experiment with

 PM\nBook Week with Jacqueline Harvey\nLevels 5–6  (ages 10y-12y)\n\nCel
 ebrate Book Week 2026 with bestselling author Jacqueline Harvey and a new 
 online writing workshop inspired by the NGV Collection. This fun and inter
 active session invites students to step into the world of mystery writing 
 – learning how to build suspense\, create intriguing characters and craf
 t unexpected twists. Led by one of Australia’s most loved children’s a
 uthors\, students will discover how artworks can spark imaginative story i
 deas and help bring their mysteries to life. Kids participating in this p
 rogram will need:\n\n- Three sheets of A4 paper\n- Pencil/pen\n\n 	Wed 7 O
 ctober\, 2PM–2.45PM live (recording available for the rest of the term)\
 nBig Ideas in Contemporary Art: Art Beyond the Walls\nLevels 7-12 (ages 12
 y+)\n\nWe look at what happens when art is taken out of the gallery and is
  placed into the world around us. This session explores how artists are cr
 eating work in public spaces\, collaborating with communities\, and inviti
 ng participation in new and unexpected ways. These artists can often blur 
 the line between viewer and artwork\, and challenge the idea that art belo
 ngs only in galleries or museums. From installations to performances and i
 nteractive projects at NGV\, we’ll think and talk about where art can ha
 ppen\, who it’s for\, and how it can connect us in powerful and personal
  ways.\n\n 	Tuesday 20th October\, 9.30AM - 10.15AM live (recording availa
 ble for the rest of the term)\nExplore the Art Elements: Fun with Form and
  Tone\nLevels F-2 (ages 5y-8y)\n\nExplore how artists use these art elemen
 ts and other techniques to create the illusion of three-dimensional space 
 and volume in their work. We will also discover sculptural works of art th
 at occupy real space and consider how their form influences the way we vie
 w and interact with them. Come prepared with drawing paper and coloured pe
 ncils to participate in creative activities during the session.\n\n 	Tuesd
 ay 27th October\, 9.30AM - 10.15AM live (recording available for the rest
