HEN @ MoAD – Drawn Together Digital Workshop – BOOKED OUT

Date(s) - 06/12/2021
11:30 am - 12:30 pm

In this digital workshop, students will discuss the techniques used by cartoonists, practice their visual analysis skills and learn about the role of political cartoons as an example of media in our democracy.

Political cartoons are an accessible way for students of all ages to develop their critical thinking and medial literacy skills.

Students will become cartoonists and create a collaborative drawing with the MoAD Learning team, while also developing their media literacy and critical thinking skills. They will design their own cartoon to investigate how they can have a say on issues that are important to them.

The program:

  • develops civic literacy by visiting special places in the building
  • explores the role of the media in our democracy
  • builds media literacy skills by examining current political cartoons for techniques and meaning
  • develops visual analysis and media literacy skills using contemporary cartoons and exclusive content
  • facilitates rich discussion around leadership and ways to make positive change
  • uses collaborative construction to develop media creation skills
  • involves students in interactive and engaging learning activities
  • explores students’ rights and responsibilities in our democracy

A post-visit resource pack is provided after your digital workshop.
