 or both excursions at Scienceworks:\nRobots &amp\; Coding\nThis 45 minute 
 hands-on robotics workshop lets kids practise their STEM skills as they le
 arn to code a robot to be a self-driving\, autonomous car. With additional
  challenges\, this program allows kids to engage at many levels.\nChildren
  will experience:\n\n 	Using block-based coding on iPads to design and cod
 e instructions for a robot\n 	Open ended challenges to practise critical a
 nd creative thinking\, algorithmic thinking\, and collaboration\n 	Live pr
 oblem solving as they debug their robot\n\nChildren will learn:\n\n 	How t
 o apply computational thinking to solving a problem\n 	An introduction int
 o block-based coding\n 	How code commands give sequential commands to a ro
 bot\n 	That sensors give inputs to a robot that can change how a robot act
 s\, based on its programming\n 	To develop their technological proficiency
  through using robots and iPads\n\nOther key information:\n\n 	This progra
 m uses mBots\n\nTinkertown\nPushes and pulls\, materials and design\, moto
 rs and gears\, coding and creation! Let kids imagine\, design and create b
 y building their imagination.\n\nIn this 60 minute self-guided exhibition\
 , excursion students will engage with the engineering design process by bu
 ilding cubby houses and other imaginative structures.\n\nSolve challenges\
 , send secret messages and invent wacky contraptions. There are endless po
 ssibilities for engineering and play-based learning.\nChildren will experi
 ence:\n\n 	The engineering design process while engaging with hands-on des
 ign challenges\n 	Designing and building inventions with the end-user in m
 ind\n 	Loose-parts and building materials to spark open-ended or guided ti
 nkering\n 	Communication\, coding and creation through interactive and man
 ipulatable patterns and puzzles\n 	Building a soft cubby with masses of ma
 gnetic cushions\n 	Coding a message on a giant fidget popper wall\n 	Sendi
 ng a secret message over the airwaves with whisper tubes\n\nChildren will 
 learn:\n\n 	Which shapes are the strongest and how we use this knowledge i
 n design thinking\n 	How an object’s material\, size\, and shape impact 
 its purpose\, movement and function ·\n 	How to design an invention for t
 he end-user ·\n 	How forces can be used to alter the speed and direction 
 of objects ·\n 	How art is integrated into design and inventing\n\nSessio
 n timetable:\n\n 	10.50am: families arrive for an 11am group entry\n 	11.
 30am: Robots &amp\; Coding workshop. Non-participating families can wander
  Scienceworks\n 	12.15pm: workshop ends\n 	12.30pm: Tinkertown session\n 	
 1.30pm: Session ends\, families can stay at Scienceworks for general viewi
