 ing.com/DODHC\n\nJoin us on this action packed visit to Swan Hill Pioneer 
 Settlement and step back in time to experience life in a typical Mallee to
 wnship in the early 1900’s.\n\nStudents can explore a range of historic 
 buildings from Australia’s pioneering past – including early settler
 ’s cottages\, a working blacksmith\, schools\, hotel\, various shops\, a
 nd an extensive collection of working tractors and machinery. Students can
  further connect with Australia’s pioneering history through a variety o
 f guided and self-guided activities covering domestic life\, pioneer techn
 ology and change\, agricultural machinery\, the natural environment\, Abor
 iginal Culture\, and more. Many activities also include a hands-on\, or pr
 actical component\, to fully engage students.\n\nOur program will run from
 :\n\n 	10:30am to 4:10pm on Monday\,\n 	9:30 am to 4:10pm Tuesday\, and\n 
 	9:30am to 12:10pm Wednesday. Families may choose to stay on and explore t
 he rest of the day or depart for home.\n\nPyap Cruise: included\nA one hou
 r cruise aboard the Pyap departs from the Horseshoe Bend Wharf. Our journe
 y along the Murray River is narrated\, and includes the riverboat history\
 , the influence of this form of transport on early settlement along the ri
 ver\, and the natural environment. The Pyap\, originally built in 1896 in 
 Mannum (SA)\, connects students with the reality of navigating the physica
 l environment of the Murray River.\nLaser Light Show: optional extra\nFami
 lies will have the option of attending a Laser Light Show after dark (with
  brilliant colours\, water\, light\, lasers\, special effects\, and boomin
 g sound!). A captivating display\, students learn about the history and le
 gends of the Mallee region. This is an optional extra\, and can be booked 
 at the camp.\n\nDoors open 8pm\, show runs from 8:30pm to just after 9pm i
 n the Pioneer Settlement. $16 to attend one show\, $31.50 to attend two. H
 eartbeat of the Murray plays on Monday Night\, Legends of the Mallee on Tu
 esday. Last camp quite a few families wanted to return for the second show

 By-Night\nThe Lodges: optional accomodation\nComplete the experience by st
 aying onsite in The Lodges\, just a 2 minute walk from the Pioneer Settlem
 ent. The Lodges is bunk accommodation (for the full school camp experience
 !) in family groups in 2\, 4\, 6 or 8 bed rooms with shared bathrooms. Com
 mon areas include dining and recreation areas\, TV and DVD\, fire pit\, BB
 Q and kitchen facilities for self-catering. BYO all bedding.\n\nThree nigh
 ts accomodation: check in Sunday 6th from 2pm\, check out Wed 30th by 9:30
 am. It is free for 0-4 year olds (who are not guaranteed a bed). Book earl
 y if you require accommodation as it may sell out.\nAlternative accommodat
 ion options\nIf you are needing accomodation and The Lodges bunk accomodat
 ion doesn’t suit you\, these options are all within about a 10 minute wa
 lk of the Pioneer Settlement:\n\n 	Pioneer Station Motor Inn\n 	Swan Hill 
 Resort\n 	Jacaranda Holiday Units\n 	Big 4 Riverside Swan Hill\n\nFood Opt
 ions\nMorning tea\, lunch and afternoon tea breaks of 30 minutes will be s
 cheduled between activities.\n\nIf you wish\, you may pre-order morning te
 a\, lunch and afternoon tea from the onsite cafe (morning tea only on the 
 last day). Meals are set\, everyone receives the same\, although they are 
 able to cater for all dietary requirements.\n\nOptions might include the f
 ollowing:\n\n 	Morning tea - Scones with Jam/Cream\, cake. All served with
  fruit.\n 	Lunch - BBQ Chicken Burgers\, ham or chicken and salad roll. Al
 l served with a sweet biscuit and a fruit drink\n 	Afternoon tea- whole fr
 uit and snack chips.\n\nOn-site Morning Tea\, Lunch and Afternoon Tea for 
 the two main days of the camp\, and morning tea only on the last day\, can
  be added to your ticket when booking. All dietary requirements can be cat
 ered for\, you will be asked for these details when\nbooking.\n\nAlternati
 vely\, families can choose:\n\n 	To bring your own picnic or packed lunch 
 and snacks. Bringing your own lunch (or pre-ordering from the cafe) would 
 enable you to make the most of your time in the settlement\, with more fre
 e time to explore the site during breaks.\n 	The onsite cafe\, The Paragon
  Cafe (paragoncafesh.com.au) is back to being fully operational so is also
  an option for those seeking lunch options. Keep in mind our break times a
 re only 30 minutes\, and there may be a wait for service during busy times
 .\n 	Spoons Riverside is a nearby cafe/restaurant (spoonsriverside.com.au)
 \, it doesn’t open on Tuesday.\n 	McDonalds is a 6 minute walk from the 
 Settlement. Other dining options are available a bit further away in the m
 ain street of Swan Hill.\n\nCostumes\nOne of the highlights of this camp f
 or many families is the chance to dress up. Last time around 80% of childr
 en (and some\nadults) wore costumes\, and it makes for some great photo op
 portunities. It’s an easy era to dress for\, and op shops can be a\nsour
 ce of many suitable outfits. Options include:\n\n 	Pants\, buttoned shirt\
 , waistcoat\, bushman’s hat\n 	Shorts\, buttoned shirt\, braces\, cap\n 
 	Old fashioned dress and straw hat\n 	Skirt\, blouse and apron\n 	Lace up 
 shoes\, boots\, elastic sided boots\n 	Hair could be in a bun\, or plaits\
 , and ribbons were popular\n\nTransport\nIt would be possible to attend th
 is camp using vline Train or bus from Melbourne via Bendigo. The Swan Hill
  train station is a 20 minute walk to the Pioneer Settlement and The Lodge
 s\, and some other accommodation options are even closer.\n\nContact the o
