The specific activities ch ange\, but the flow stays the same - this helps kids feel settled\, especi ally in a long day. Timeframes below are approximate\, depending on flow o f the group on the day.\n\n1. Arrival\, Setup &\; Chill (10:30 - 11.30) \n\nWhat it looks like:\nKids arrive\, sign in\, and ease into the space. Some help set up tables or ingredients\, others sit and chill with cards\, drawing\, Lego\, or quiet chat. There’s no big group circle straight aw ay and no pressure to talk.\n\nWhy we do this:\nThis gives everyone time t o settle in\, especially kids who need time to warm up\, feel anxious in n ew spaces or have come straight from a busy morning. Helping with setup al so gives kids a sense of ownership and responsibility.\n\nGroup Activity i ncluded eg: sewing for the homeless\, art for yourself\, board games.\n\n2 . Cooking: Prep &\; Cook Together (11:30–12:30)\n\nWhat it looks like :\nKids work in small teams to prepare and cook a shared meal. Everyone ha s a role - chopping\, mixing\, setting up\, or cleaning as they go. Music is usually on and conversation happens naturally.\n\nWhy we do this:\nCook ing together encourages teamwork\, builds practical life skills\, creates connection without forced conversation. It also gives kids a shared goal\, which is especially good for those who struggle socially.\n\n3. Eat Toget her (12:30–1:00)\n\nWhat it looks like:\nEveryone sits together and eats what they’ve made. Talking is optional - kids can chat\, listen\, or ju st eat. There are sometimes light question cards on the table\, but no one has to answer them.\n\n4. Group Activity / Reflection (1:00–1:40)\n\nWh at it looks like:\nShort\, low-pressure group games that get everyone movi ng\, help kids learn names naturally and create laughter and ease. These a re group-based games\, not performances. No one is put on the spot or forc ed to participate.\n\nWhy we do this:\nThis is how kids get comfortable wi th each other without awkward icebreakers. It builds confidence\, social s kills and connection through shared fun. The games change regularly so kid s attending multiple days don’t repeat the same thing.\n\nWhy we do this :\nShared meals are one of the easiest ways to build community. This is of ten where friendships start naturally.\n\nWhat it looks like:\nA short\, v aried activity to bring the group back together before the end of the day. This might be a fun group challenge\, a creative task\, planning somethin g together or a light reflection and check-in. It’s always kept short an d age-appropriate.\n\nWhy we do this:\nThis helps wrap the day up gently\, reinforce positive group culture and gives the kids a sense of completion . It’s never heavy or emotional unless kids naturally go there.\n\n5. Pa ck Up &\; Reset (1:40–2:00)\n\nWhat it looks like:\nEveryone helps pa ck up — tables\, dishes\, floors\, food storage.
