Would you like to enjoy a few days away, relaxing in the Yarra Valley, learning from a world expert in progressive education, enjoying delicious home cooked meals, connecting with like-minded souls and seeing you children enjoy the company of other homeschooled kids?
A fantastic event is coming up in beautiful Warburton in June. Shaun McGurgan, International Mentor, will be delivering a two-day seminar focused on holistic, child-centered education. If you are not familiar with Shaun, he has thirty years experience in the education sector as a kindergarten, primary and middle school teacher, school holiday program facilitator and in school management and development. He currently runs his mentoring practice and a small homeschool group. Some of you may know him best for his past involvement with the Green School in Bali which is a truly amazing, progressive school that I admire very much. I highly recommend taking a look at his website even if you don’t wish to attend the seminar. Are you a homeschool parent wanting some ideas and inspiration to use in your home? Maybe you are a parent wanting to start your own homeschool group but you are not sure where to begin? Or perhaps you are an educator interested in how this approach might help you to further your connection and understanding of your students. Shaun will be covering several different topics and will provide resources and tools to help you with all of these goals.
This will be a small, relaxed group and there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and interact with the other members in the group. Please see the link below for full details and you are very welcome to contact myself or Shaun for further details. There have been many times where I have almost given up on homeschooling due to feeling overwhelmed and socially isolated. I have seen several parents return their children to school purely because it gets too hard on their own, they don’t feel they have the right tools and motivation to continue and they are having trouble finding friends, for themselves and their children. I get it. But I think it’s time to change that. Let’s become so informed, so inspired and so enthusiastic about doing this that we can create truly collaborative, compassionate and creative communities for ourselves and our children. It would only take one person from each homeschool group or area to attend this seminar and set up their own group for major change to take place. We CAN do this, we deserve it and so do our kids. I so look forward to connecting with you and creating those communities that I know so many of us long for
Low-cost accommodation is available for a limited number of people. Children are very welcome but remain your responsibility at all times. The venue is a private home with room for everyone and things for the kids to do.
