The mental &\; physical wellbeing of animals is of the highest import ance. They need new enrichment ideas that will enable animals to use their senses\, move their bodies &\; behave in natural ways. Children will undertake research\, &\; hear behind-the-scenes stories to learn more a bout the animals they will be designing for.\n\nKids will learn:\n\n Abou t the features and life cycles of Zoo animals\n How keepers use STEM to s upport animal welfare\n STEM skills such as scientific observation and en gineering\n Creative thinking and problem-solving skills\n\n\nGroup 2: ag es 10y-12y (Grade 5-6)\n\n 9.50am: arrival\, check-in\, &\; group entr y\n 10.10am - 10.50am: STEM session\n 10.50am: self-led exploration\n\nK ids will learn about the challenges that Wildlife Conservation Scientists face when working with threatened species in Australia. They will begin t o explore the types of technologies currently used by scientists to locate \, track\, &\; monitor wildlife\; &\; start to understand the benefi ts &\; limitations of these technologies. Children will use design thin king to develop solutions to the challenges that our Wildlife Conservation Scientists face with the technology currently available for use.\n\nKids will learn:\n\n About the challenges that Wildlife Conservation Scientist s face when working with threatened species in Australia\n About the type s of technologies used by scientists\, their benefits and their limitation s\n About how the adaptations of different species can be understood and used to help inform the types of technologies scientists will use\n STEM skills such as scientific observation and engineering\n Creating thinking and problem-solving skills\n\n\nGroup 3: ages 12y-14y (Year 7-8)\n\n 9.5 0am: arrival\, check-in\, group entry\n 10am - 10.50am: self-led explorat ion\n 10.50am: return check-in\n 11am - 11.40am: STEM session\n 11.40am onwards: self-led exploration\n\nThis will be the same program as Group 2 \, but tailored for junior high school aged families.\n\n \;\nTicket p rices\n$26.50 per child\n$40.00 per adult *\n\n* Ticket prices for adults are for non Zoos Victoria membership card holders.\nAdults with a Zoos Vi ctoria membership will be able to use it on the day.\n\nSiblings not withi n age range of each group may attend on the day via a General Admission bo oking &\; can attend the STEM sessions\, but cannot participate in or d isrupt the event.\n\nChildren must be accompanied by their parent/carer or nominated adult.
