    Same old, same old – well I guess they have to earn a crust. Psychologists always seem to bang on with this rubbish about ‘resilience building’ on the subject of bullying & peer pressure in schools – but they would never, ever apply the same strategy to a battered man or woman experiencing domestic violence – physical, emotional and/or psychological! The advice there is to get out, stay out, rebuild and move on – never to stay and ‘learn to become more resilient’ through the experience of constant assault and abuse! In adult working life, few people expect to turn up at their place of work to be spat on, beaten, stabbed, ridiculed etc – so what level of resilience is he talking about exactly? Maybe if the child wants to grow up to be a cage fighter, bouncer, go in the army etc – but highly unlikely for data entry or furniture design, unless their boss is a sociopath (in which case they can leave, unlike a school child)… What complete tripe. Children lack the ability to deal with such constant trauma, are left too broken to do it by themselves & are frequently unsupported to do so successfully by schools – after all, how many teachers actually have the time, knowledge or skills to cater to the emotional needs & well being of one individual child amongst so many, in any consistent way? They just don’t, even when they want to – it’s far easier for management to deny that there’s a bullying problem in the first place, which also conveniently shields the schools reputation in the process – or to put the emphasis on the broken and abused child to toughen up and get on with it – than deal with a violent child from a violent family. If they spent more time preventing abusive behaviour in schools successfully, fewer children would be forced to ‘develop resilience’ to the beatings and ridicule experienced by so many, every day. Families who show the wisdom, strength and courage to stand up to this nonsense (and the idiot opinions proffered by ‘professionals’) when schools fail to protect their children under their care, should be applauded – it’s amazing what providing a safe, healthy, supportive, happy, free, emotionally stable environment for your child will do to aid in developing natural resilience, internal confidence and life skills – and what a bit of common sense and tlc can achieve – and you don’t need a psychology degree or ‘resilience training’ to provide that either, it’s just called good parenting!
