Students in foster care or out-of-home placements can be registered for home schooling. Applicants must have parental responsibility.

In care situations, responsibility is usually established through a placement order. Carers are required to include the placement order together with their home schooling application.

The VRQA will assess the order and contact the carer if additional information is required. In some cases, this may include a requirement for a DFFH representative to be party to the application.
