Join us for a day at Deep Creek Reserve, where Swinburne PrimeSci will give kids the opportunity to learn about science and the environment, by utilising the indoor centre and surrounding wetlands.
This event offers two concurrent activities:
Life Cycles: ages 4y-9y
Discuss and explore what defines a living thing and identify different life stages of freshwater invertebrates (including waterbugs) in a pond water sample.
Freshwater Habitats: ages 8y-12y
Investigate different wetland water samples from of the Deep Creek Reserve to identify freshwater invertebrates (including waterbugs). Discuss the needs of animals that live in these habitats as you learn about living and non-living factors that influence life in our local waterways.
After the excursion, families are encouraged to stay for lunch and a play at the eco play space.
Details:
- $19 per child, adults free
- Both groups are open to all school ages, so siblings welcome to stay together
- Sorry, no preschool aged siblings. Families are encouraged to send friends in together, & younger siblings can play at the eco play space during the excursion
- Limit of one adult per family per activity
- Families to bring weather appropriate clothes that may get dirty
- Shoes required
- 10.45am arrival for an 11am prompt start
