Join us for a snorkel lesson with OutThere Outdoors followed by a rockpool ramble with Kade Mills (Marine Biologist with the Victorian National Parks Association). Situated in the Bunurong Marine National Park, Shack Bay is a wonderful way to experience our marine sanctuaries. Instructors will show you how to use the gear, go through snorkeling safely, and then take you out to have a look at the underwater environment. Snorkeling introduces you to another world. Almost everyone is surprised when they discover what’s under the surface along the Victorian coast. Stingrays, Blue Throat Wrasse, Spiky Globe Fish, and Horseshoe Leatherjackets are just some of the species you can encounter. With a bit of luck, you may even find a Weedy Sea Dragon – shy, but worth looking patiently for.
After the snorkel join Kade Mills (Marine Biologist with the Victorian National Parks Association) as he takes us across the rock pools in search of octopus, brittle sea stars, and brilliantly coloured sea slugs on our reef’s intertidal zones.
Outthere provides everything you’ll need for a safe and fun session including snorkel, mask, flippers, and full- length 3/2mm wetsuits. Parents and siblings accompanying participants can watch from the comfort of the beach.
